The Calendar Autopsy for Overloaded Leaders

Discover what your calendar is costing you before burnout makes the decision for you.

A note from Rick

Your calendar is not the enemy. It is evidence. The goal is not shame. The goal is clarity. Pull up your real calendar from the last two weeks and answer these questions honestly.

1. What owns your calendar?

Look at the last two weeks. What categories took the most space?

Which meetings, calls, or tasks keep appearing without producing real progress?

Where did your best energy go?

2. What gets the leftovers?

What did you say mattered most but barely appears on the calendar?

Where did family, faith, health, rest, planning, or deep work get pushed?

Who is getting your exhausted version?

3. What keeps repeating?

What problem showed up more than once?

What decision are you avoiding?

What are you doing repeatedly that someone else should own?

4. What should be deleted, delegated, delayed, or protected?

Delete: what no longer belongs?

Delegate: what is not yours to carry?

Delay: what matters later but not now?

Protect: what must be defended in the calendar?

5. What does your calendar say about who you are becoming?

What would a stranger conclude matters most to you?

What would your family conclude?

What would your future self ask you to change?

Quick diagnosis

If your calendar is mostly urgent, mostly reactive, or mostly owned by other people, your leadership is carrying more disorder than you may realize.

First brave change: choose one meeting, obligation, or recurring task to delete, delegate, delay, or protect this week.
